Locally Sourced Products

To provide our customers with a broad range and good value, most of our products are supplied from The Co-operative Group who for more than 15 years have been at the forefront of Responsible Retailing Issues and have a distinctive ethical policy towards producing and sourcing food (see www.co-operative.coop/food/ethics/).

In line with the Society’s policy of supporting local and regional communities, we offer a wide range of distinctive high quality products with a Yorkshire connection. 'In their own words' below, take a read about some of our local suppliers:

  • Yorkshire Crisp Company, based in Sheffield, produce luxury hand cooked crisps in stay fresh resealable drums. Unlike many others, all their crisps are made with completely natural flavours. The difference in taste is remarkable and food miles are reduced-significant for a bulky product like crisps.
  • Grumpy Mule is produced at their Meltham Roastery by the Balmforth family owned Bolling Coffee Ltd. The coffees are roasted in batches to suit their individual characteristics. The company has taken inspiration from the world of wine to ensure that customers can discover the distinctive character and provenance of each coffee by providing background about the place it was grown and the people who produced it. Most of these coffees aren’t just blends or characterless single origin coffees, but coffees from identifiable farms, estates and cooperatives of smallholder farmers.
  • Longley Farm lies at the heart of Summer Wine Country, high above the small Pennine town of Holmfirth. For over 60 years the Dickinson family have watched over the processing of their Jersey herd's milk into a range of prize winning dairy products, whose quality is renown for their purity and goodness and enjoyed by people all over the UK, and Europe, and in demand in many other countries worldwide.

They are a continental breed whose milk is renowned for cheesemaking. The cheese has won a Gold at the World Cheese Awards and a Silver at the British Cheese Awards.
